The Ugly – I am inundated by so much in my life right now, I really don’t know where to find the Time to do what I want to do. I also don’t give up – it’s not in my nature. So…

A more detailed website that first explains all my terminology starting with Power & Spread.
A list of all NFL, College and Pro Spring Teams – their Head Coaches, Coordinators and Schemes both Offense and Defense.
Game of the Week Articles during the Season that will include Film Breakdowns as well as Podcast explanations with a Power Spread Perspective.
Finally, Off-Season happenings with Coach & Player movements in all Leagues along with my thoughts on upcoming Seasons.
PowerSpread.net – The Past!
I will continue to have the original site as a place to share my thoughts on the History of the Game. My most favorite topic of all!
I have done a lot of research and have a lot of material collected on the origins of the game and the ways in which it’s evolved through the decades. My curiosity stretches as far back as the Game of Ball played by the Ancient Greeks and Chinese.
I actually have a full list of Offensive Scheme Development dating back to Walter Camp’s invention of the Snap and Line of Scrimmage. I have a looser list for Defensive Scheme Development and eventually want to delve into the the roots of the Game – Special Teams.
I will also look at the multitude of Professional Leagues that have developed over a Century and a Half along with the Social Impact Football has made on the World at Large.
Podcasts – The Present!
My original intent of starting a Power Spread Podcast was for further exploration into what was presently happening in the world of Football.
Of course it would be skewed to PS Schematic Development, but I would also include other on-field or off-field developments to discuss.
Presently, the Podcast has mainly been used as a Preview/Review Platform for the NFL Playoffs & College Bowls & Playoffs.
I also have had Podcasts on the latest Spring Football Leagues (XFL/USFL) and March Madness Basketball – Helter Skelter as a counterpoint to Power Spread.
Film Breakdowns – Moments!
Moment to moment Reality is what happens on the Field! This is where the study of Strategy, Technique & Talent w/ Attitude all take place.
If you really want to know the Game then this is where it’s at. Not Stats. Not Media Talk. Not Coach Speak. Right here – on the Field!
My intent is “Game of the Week” Breakdowns in Season and “Look Back” breakdowns in the Off-Season.
My TIME
Where I’m I going to find the Time for all of the above – honestly, I have no idea yet. But where there’s a will, there’s a way.
No promises anymore, except that I will start the Steps. That’s all I can promise.
Step 1 – Continuing to keep up on the Football World all year as I have this last year. Good news is it is getting easier and I’m rolling now, so it’s not as time consuming. This enables me to take time for the next steps.
Step 2- Podcasts and/or Videos Weekly during the Off-Season and Regular Season. Maybe start Monthly and go from there. Not sure yet – but the Intent is Weekly output all year long.
Step 3 – PowerSpread.com. Find the designer I want to use. Put together a simple design with good organization. Start to fill in the List of Teams. Begin Weekly (Monthly?) posts on games being played and/or seasons upcoming.
Step 4 – Begin to Re-Organize PowerSpread.net for the purposes of a Football History site with some social commentary.
My TEAM
Right now – it’s me and a very good friend who helps me with my podcasts and posts. More to come, starting with a Web Designer (I have 2 in mind) for PS.com.
My Playing Field
So what’s happening right now for me is I’m back once again for Playoff Time. CFB Conference Championship Podcasts, Bowl Podcasts and the CFB Playoff Podcasts, Film Study & Posts. Then it’s on to the NFL Playoffs with the intent to finally do a Super Bowl Film Study in the week following the big game.
I am also working on something I call The Option Ideal or The Option Imperative. An open study of Option Football and what it holds for the game’s future. Army/Navy games of this year and last will begin this study. I will have a post and several podcasts coming this week.
Going Forward
This past year I continued making Podcasts into the XFL Season in February, before dropping off until the OSU/UM game as I did the year before. This coming year the Spring Leagues are merging and supposedly the season will start in March. I will see what I can do but here is my Priority List:
- College Football Bowls/Playoffs – Podcasts/Film Breakdown/Playoff Posts.
- NFL Playoffs – Podcasts/Film Breakdown/Super Bowl Posts (Playoffs Possible)
- Super Bowl Film Breakdowns (Possible Past Super Bowls as well)
- Continuing Study of NFL Teams / Podcast Cleanup
- Spring Football Cleanup from last year.
- Spring Football Follow if it happens this year.
- NFL / CFB Team Previews this Summer
- If Time – PS.com website
My first Goal is to be ready for 2024 NFL/CFB Seasons and do Game of the Wks for both during the Regular Season – Posts/Pods/Film.
Second Goal is creating PS.com.
A BIG THANK YOU to any who keep checking in every Dec/Jan to see if powerspread.net is back live for the playoffs. I appreciate the interest and support and all I can say is “it’s not over until the fat lady sings” and for me, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. Hang in – it will be worth it!
